Don Fowler
Don Fowler became chief executive officer of SumTotal Systems, Inc. in November 2005, guiding the strategy and overseeing the global operations of SumTotal.
From 1998 through 2005, Fowler was a director, mentor and advisor to a number of early stage tech firms. He helped CEOs and venture capitalists put programs in place to develop products, address legal issues, hire and retain employees, communicate with investors and drive sales.
From 1996 to 1998, Fowler was CEO of eT Communications, which made a communications product for monitoring alarms and remotely reading meters. He and his team secured the first of the company's customers and put the firm on a well-launched trajectory. In 1996, Fowler took the helm of Worlds, Inc., a maker of products for creating virtual reality spaces on the Internet, in an effort to turn the company around and sell it. He took sales at the firm from $1.5 million to $7.1 million in less than twelve months, raised $12 million in venture capital and sold the company.
Before that, he was senior vice president and general manager for the Solutions Products Group at Tandem Computers. During his time at Tandem, he oversaw a $700-million global business unit with 1,000 employees. He led his group in divesting a number of companies and acquiring others, while also playing a key role in communicating the value of these transactions to Wall Street investors.
From 1976 to 1986, he held numerous senior-level posts at Bechtel, an engineering and construction company with global operations. As CIO, he ran Bechtel's Information Services Group and created a profit center with over $350 million in revenue. Prior to Bechtel, Fowler spent 11 years with IBM, during which he climbed from systems engineer to being responsible for sales and support across the western United States.
He began his professional career with Boeing in 1960. While there, he and a colleague developed the world's first library search-and-retrieval computer system.
Fowler serves on the President's Cabinet at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, as well as the executive committee. He received both his bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington.

Neil J. Laird
Neil Laird has been the chief financial officer since the formation of SumTotal in March 2004 and is responsible for worldwide finance, human resources, hosting operations and information technology at SumTotal Systems. He brings over 30 years of finance, operations and global enterprise experience to the company.
Laird was senior vice president and CFO of Docent Inc, one of the two companies that merged to form SumTotal Systems, from 2002 until 2004.
Prior to his position with Docent, Laird was CFO of ADAC Laboratories, a publicly traded $350 million medical products company that was acquired in December 2000 by Philips Medical Systems, a division of Royal Philips Electronics. During his tenure at ADAC, he enhanced the company's internal financial processes and helped drive a turnaround effort that took the company from a loss to a profit position.
Prior to ADAC, Laird was chief operating officer and vice president of finance of Coherent Medical Group, a division of Coherent Inc that supplies medical lasers.
Before that, Laird spent over 17 years with Measurex Corporation, a publicly traded supplier of computerized process control systems. Laird's career also includes time with Reed International PLC and with Price Waterhouse.
Laird is a UK chartered accountant and holds a Masters of Administration degree from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.

Erika Rottenberg
As senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, Erika Rottenberg is responsible for SumTotal's worldwide legal operations. Prior to joining SumTotal Systems, Rottenberg was vice president, strategic development and general counsel of Creative Labs, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd., a publicly traded company and worldwide leader in digital entertainment products for the personal computer and the Internet. Prior to Creative Labs, Rottenberg was associated with the law firm of Cooley Godward in its Silicon Valley offices, where she practiced corporate and employment law for technology companies.
Rottenberg received a Juris Doctor degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Sanjay Dholakia
Sanjay Dholakia leads SumTotal's Learning and Talent Management Business Unit, which is focused on advancing the company's market leadership in the learning industry and its integration across the broader talent management space. In directing the business unit, Dholakia is responsible for driving its vision, strategy, and go-to-market activities across channels. Dholakia also maintains responsibility for strategic investing, corporate strategy, and emerging business lines at SumTotal Systems. Previously, as senior vice president for marketing and alliances at SumTotal, Dholakia was responsible for the re-branding of the company and guiding marketing and product management, as well as leading the strategic channels business.
Prior to the formation of SumTotal, Dholakia served as vice president of marketing and business development for Docent, where he was responsible for strategic investing, new partner development, corporate strategy, marketing strategy and emerging business lines. He joined that company as director of corporate and business development in February 2001.
Prior to joining Docent, Dholakia served as director of business development and acting COO for Pulse, a portfolio company within Walker Digital, a business incubation and intellectual property firm. Prior to Walker Digital, Dholakia served as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and Andersen Consulting advising Fortune 500 companies from a broad range of industries on core strategic and operational issues, delivering multi-million-dollar operational improvements, leading teams to analyze performance, developing business models, establishing strategic partnerships and implementing findings.
Dholakia holds a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

Ray VillarealRay Villareal joined SumTotal in November 2007 as senior vice president of field operations. In this role, Villareal is responsible for all customer-facing activities including sales, marketing, services, and support.
Most recently, Villareal was vice president of field operations and marketing at WebEx Communications. Prior to that, he was CEO of Omniva Policy Systems, a provider of secure messaging and policy solutions that was acquired by Liquid Machines. Prior to Omniva, Villareal was CEO of HelloBrain where he led its transformation from intellectual capital exchange to supply chain collaboration solution provider.
Villareal held several executive positions at Compaq, serving as vice president and general manager for key business units. His roles included responsibility for building global partnerships with the company's key strategic customers and partners, and managing the worldwide solution strategy and marketing programs for all enterprise products and services. Prior to this, Villareal led the Enterprise Business Segment for Compaq in North America. Villareal came to Compaq through its acquisition of Tandem Computers where he held senior management and executive roles in field management, product business unit leadership and marketing.
Villareal holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Stanford University.

Jon Ciampi
Jon Ciampi is the vice president and general manager of SumTotal System's performance management and on-demand solutions strategy. Previously, as vice president, marketing and product management, Ciampi was responsible for worldwide marketing and product management at SumTotal Systems. Prior to that, Ciampi was senior director of product management, responsible for the SumTotal product suite development, future roadmap and architecture, including TotalLMS, TotalLCMS, and TotalPerformance. Joining Docent in 2002, Ciampi was responsible for the product integration efforts during the merger between Docent and Click2learn forming SumTotal, as well as the later integration efforts during the Pathlore acquisition.
Prior to these roles, Ciampi was founder of nSeconds Inc., a venture backed startup focused on enterprise wireless applications. Previously, he was with Oracle Corporation as a technical consultant.
Ciampi holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from University of the Pacific.
Pam Drew
Pam Drew is responsible for global human resources and talent management at SumTotal Systems. She joined SumTotal in 2004 after having successfully completed a consulting engagement with Docent and Click2learn to provide integration guidance during the merger which formed the company. Previously, Drew was the vice president, human resources and workplace environment at Cylink Corporation, a publicly traded enterprise security company which was acquired by SafeNet Inc. in 2003.
Prior to this role, as director of human resources, Drew led the global human resources function for Honeywell-Measurex Corporation, a provider of advanced process control solutions with over 3,000 employees worldwide. She was promoted to this role after serving in a variety of human resources leadership positions for Measurex Corporation before that publicly traded company was acquired by Honeywell in 1997.

Harnish Kanani
As senior vice president, Harnish Kanani is responsible for managing North America Enterprise Services. Prior to joining SumTotal Systems Inc., Kanani was senior vice president global operations and COO at Emagia Corporation, an enterprise software solutions provider for cash flow and working capital management. At Emagia, Kanani was responsible for overseeing the global services, sales and support teams in addition to managing internal operations.
Kanani is a senior executive with an extraordinary record of leading and managing technology development and global deployments at several Fortune 100 customers globally over his 20+ year career. Prior to Emagia, Kanani spent over 15 years in management and technology consulting, working for global corporations like Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y) and Tata Consultancy Services. At CGE&Y, Kanani was a founding member and part of the leadership team that established and managed the global Oracle Service Line (OSL). He was instrumental in setting up the CGE&Y office in Mumbai, India and leading the local practice to profitability within six months.
Kanani has a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honors) degree in Electrical & Electronics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India.
Kimberley KasperKimberley Kasper joined SumTotal in March 2008 as Vice President, Marketing, responsible for all aspects of corporate marketing including branding, messaging, corporate communications, demand generation, web and online marketing and customer marketing.
Most recently, Kasper was with salesForce.com, where she was responsible for strategic development and delivery of Americas marketing programs to support sales including field marketing, search engine marketing, mass market and developer programs, and webinars. In addition, Kasper was responsible for all marketing in Latin America.
Prior to salesForce.com, Kasper was with WebEx where she was responsible for all world-wide prospect and customer marketing programs. Previously, Kasper held marketing roles at companies such as Perfect Commerce, Recourse Technologies (now Symantec), Commerce One and VeriFone.
Kasper holds a BSBA in Marketing from Chapman University.
Jack Kramer
Jack Kramer leads SumTotal sales, marketing and services across Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe, India, Japan, Latin America and the Middle East. Kramer previously served as SumTotal's vice president of Intercontinental Sales covering Asia/Pacific, India and Latin America. Previously, as vice president of Global Alliances for SumTotal, he oversaw strategy, sales, and support for partners specializing in business process outsourcing, SI, OEM and content.
Before SumTotal's acquisition of Pathlore Software Corporation in October 2005, Kramer was vice president of sales, leading Pathlore's North American sales force.
Prior to joining Pathlore, Kramer earned kudos at both start-ups and publicly traded companies for turning around poorly performing teams, revamping processes and supercharging sales. His experience selling enterprise business applications spans more than 17 years. Earlier in his career, he held roles selling enterprise software applications for Computer Associates, Pansophic and NCR Corporation.
Kramer received a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University.
Murray Laidley
As senior vice president of engineering, Murray Laidley and his team are responsible for not only designing and developing SumTotal's software but also ensuring the award-winning platform's quality. Laidley leads a worldwide team that overseas the architecture, technology and infrastructure for SumTotal's talent management software suite.
He brings over 25 years of technology experience to SumTotal, and has held senior-level IT positions for the past 15 years. Recently, he was vice president of research and development for data analysis products at Seattle-based Insightful, where he led software engineering, quality assurance, documentation, engineering services and architecture for an integrated family of enterprise software products for statistical analysis and reporting.
Prior to his role at Insightful, Laidley was vice president of technology for Seattle-headquartered Qpass. At Qpass, in order to launch the company's product line, he created and implemented processes for software development, quality assurance and delivery.
Laidley's previous experience includes positions at Texas Instruments, Halliburton Company and McGraw-Hill's School System Division.
He received his bachelor's degree in Geophysics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
Rick Mongeau
As the Vice President, North America Sales, Rick Mongeau is responsible for all the direct sales in the U.S. and Canada for SumTotal Systems. This includes Large Enterprise and SMB sales. He joined Docent, prior to the formation of SumTotal in 2001 and was the Vice-President of Sales at Docent.
Prior to that, Mongeau was the Vice President of Sales of Webspective, which provided web applications management and content distribution, now part of Inktomi, a Yahoo company. Mongeau was also a Regional Vice President for Axent, a data security software company and a Regional Manager for Uniface, which provides client-server applications development.
Mongeau graduated from Merrimack College with a BA in Economics.
Anupam PahujaAnupam is currently managing the end-to-end business for SumTotal Systems in India. He is responsible for all functions at SumTotal India including research and development, professional services, customer support, sustained engineering, sales and marketing.
Anupam Pahuja has significant experience in managing global operations both in the US and in Asia. Most recently he served as the CEO of SeaKey (a company he acquired from Volvo), which provides safety and security services to vessels at sea.
Prior to SeaKey, Anupam Pahuja co-founded and served as the COO of MobiApps, a satellite technology company he grew to have a presence in over 10 countries. He managed the company's worldwide operations including establishing and running technology development centers in India and in Singapore. In the past he has held technology leadership positions with Accenture, Georgetown University, and United Press International (UPI).
Anupam Pahuja received an MBA in International Business from Georgetown University, Washington DC and a BS in Information Systems from Slippery Rock University, in Pennsylvania.
Richard Walsh
As vice president of customer technical operations, Rich Walsh is responsible for application hosting services, as well as, corporate information technology and infrastructure at SumTotal Systems.
Prior to this role, Walsh was vice president of operations and CIO at Cylink Corporation, a global supplier of enterprise security solutions. While at Cylink, Walsh led significant financial and operating performance improvements in the manufacturing and customer service functions, served as the executive facilitator for the corporate quality management system and was part of the leadership team which concluded a successful acquisition of the company by SafeNet Inc. in 2003.
Before joining Cylink, Walsh was director of IT for Honeywell-Measurex Corporation, where he rapidly developed and deployed a new IT architecture to complement new business strategies for this global industrial automation solutions provider.
Walsh holds a B.A. in Computer Science and English Literature from LaSalle College, and an MBA from Temple University.
